Highlights from the Knicks win last night
Only 3.5 games back of the 8th seed.
do it Phil, do it
Game: 64th of Season, 3rd of 4 Against Cavs (Series 1-1)
Betting Line: Cavs favored by 1
ESPN Spread Pick: Knicks
The time for this game is at 730 pm, not 430 pm.. the 430 is pacific time.
Big game tonight, with a win the Knicks will move ahead of the Cavs into 10th place in the East and within striking distance of the 8th spot.
How crazy would it be if the Knicks run off a bunch of Ws to close out the season and actually make the playoffs?
As for the Phil Jackson news… kind of sounds like that’s going to happen right? Would be a really nice story if Phil came back to NY to save the Knicks and actually build a legit team.
Prediction: Knicks 107, Cavs 98
Prediction Record: 32-31
sorry I couldn’t settle on one because they all have big impacts (no particular order)
1. injuries - there was never any consistency in lineups
2. lack of leadership - losing Kidd and Sheed put the leadership onus on Melo and he simply wasn’t ready for that
3. less commitment to defense - big difference from last year where we actually cared about defense and a lot of that was kidd and sheed making sure guys stayed committed
4. no second scorer - last year, JR’s assuming the second banana role was huge. This year, we didn’t have one consistent second option to help Melo with the scoring load. It was supposed to be Bargnani (remember that guy?), but he proved to be a disappointment (although showed some signs that he could be that person).
5. Simply put, the Knicks were less creative on offense this season. It’s like Woody forgot everything he learned from Coach D’Antoni in terms of spacing and moving the ball. Instead, we got a HEAVY dose of iso-melo this season. And that’s partly because of the lack of trust Melo had in his teammates all throughout the season.
A lot of things went wrong this season, so it’s hard to say just one.
The crazy thing is… we still have a shot to make the playoffs.
Final Score: Knicks 108, Jazz 81
Soooo…. are the Knicks really going to do this to their fan base?
Are they going to force us to get our hopes up that we can actually make the playoffs after this God awful season?
With another win tonight, it kind of looks like the Knicks are making a last ditch effort to salvage the season… but is it too little too late?
The Pistons and Cavs both lost, so New York gains a game on them. The Hawks play later tonight.
Glad to see the Knicks put away the Jazz early… plenty of rest for the starters as New York is back in action tomorrow night against the Cavs.. big big game.
Carmelo put in one of his best all around games with 29 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. Stat, JR and Tyson all finished in double figures as well.
Just a great game over all highlighted by one of the nicest plays I’ve see all season. A sort of three man weave up top with Felton, Melo and Tyson which resulted in a Felton lob to Tyson for a dunk. Made me question whether or not Woody was still coaching the team.
Let’s keep this going.
Game: 63rd of Season, 1st Against Jazz
Betting Line: Knicks favored by 7.0
ESPN Spread Pick: Jazz
A little more on this whole Phil Jackson situation.
It would make sense in a front office role, so Phil can help build a team and attract players - but I can’t stop thinking of why would Phil take the job after seeing how Donnie and Grunwald were treated by the idiot that is Dolan?
How can Phil actually trust Dolan to not interfere?
Anyway, let’s see how that one plays out.
Tonight, two teams with terrible records go at it in the Garden.
I say we come out on top.
Prediction: Knicks 98, Jazz 90
Prediction Record: 31-31
Ummm… how delusional is James Dolan to think he can get Phil Jackson to come to this mess of a team.
More power to him if he can.
But, I don’t see it happening unless all the pieces are together and it’s clear Phil has a good team to coach. The likelihood of putting the pieces together with Steve Mills and Dolan running the show? Very unlikely.
Final Score: Knicks 118, T’wolves 106
Hey look! The Knicks won!
After seven losses in a row, New York finally pulled one out against Minny.
Player of the Night: Ray Felton, see how well the Knicks work when you have a point guard that actually plays like a point guard? Felton was the reason we won, stats weren’t that crazy, but he definitely controlled the pace of the game - 18 points and 8 assists
Play of the Night: well, it was going to be Shump poster, but it just turned into a loud miss. It’s the first picture I posted above. But, shortly after, Felton through a pretty sick alley oop to THJ. Soon as I see the video I’m going to post it up
Quote of the Night: Tyson Chandler in his halftime interview saying that Kevin Love can’t play defense. Video published earlier, so check it out
Fan of the Night: those two girls in the picture… I feel bad for that unborn baby!
Smile of the Night: Woody earned that one
good night Knick fans, rest happy.
