JR Smith, Knicks Shutdown 76ers Again

Final Score: Knicks 110, 76ers 88

Record: 3-0 (1st in Atlantic, 1st in Eastern Conference)
Current Streak: Won 3

The Knicks haven’t started a season off 3-0 since the 1999-2000 season.

You all remember what happened that year, right?

Ha, I’m getting ahead of myself, but the Knicks look solid. Real solid. According to MSG, this is the first time in Knicks history they opened up a season with three consecutive double-digit wins.

The start of the game was a bit rough, which was expected considering these two teams played yesterday.

By mid-first quarter though, that was all out the window and the Knicks were just clicking again.

JR Smith and Ronnie Brewer had it going.

What I was Looking for Pregame:

  • Resolve - checked that off the list. It didn’t look it at the start of the game, but they buckled down and gutted it out. They weren’t going to let this game be easy for the 76ers.
  • Melo - didn’t have his best game, but kept doing the right things out there. Him being active on the boards is going to be important this year. He had 7 tonight, 5 yesterday and 10 in the first game. Things are looking good so far.
  • Defense - Held their opponent to under 90 points for the third game in a row. You can’t ask for much more from this team on defense. Rotations are there, we’re contesting shots and guys are just picking up one another. Ronnie Brewer is awesome. He only had one steal, but he caused about 50 of them.

How about Rasheed Wallace getting non-garbage time minutes and knocking down jumpers including a buzzer beating 3-pointer.

KNOTEWORHTY KNICK OF THE GAME: Deciding between Brewer and JR, but have to give it to JR because of that ridiculous dunk (somebody needs to create a GIF of that quick) - 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 1 block
