Knicks @ Nets (Game 13): Nov. 26th, 7:00 PM EST
New York Knicks: 9-3 (4-3 on the road)
Brooklyn Nets: 8-4 (6-1 at home)
Head-to-Head: First Meeting
TV: TNT, MSG
This is a rivalry.
Tyson Chandler commented yesterday that he has more aggression toward the Celtics and HEAT, which makes sense since they are teams we’ve battled with in the playoffs. But, it doesn’t take away from the fact that these two teams are now embroiled in a rivalry.
Once Prokhorov moved the Nets to Brooklyn, it became one. Any time you have two teams in the same town, it’s a rivalry.
It doesn’t really matter if these teams haven’t played each other in the playoffs much. You play in the same backyard, you are going to hate each other. You see it when the Clippers play the Lakers and you see it when the Jets play the Giants.
One of the teams want to claim, “we own this town.”
Here’s an interesting stat from ESPN Stats & Info: Tonight is 168th game between Nets & Knicks. Its the first time ever both teams have a .600+ win pct entering the matchup.
Also, the owners probably don’t like each other much. You can bet Dolan was pissed when that billboard went up right across from the Garden last season proclaiming the Nets have arrived.
What 2 Watch:
- The crowd - I’m guessing it will be mostly Knick fans in there drowning out the Nets fans, but you can never be sure.
- Tyson Chandler - want to see if he is able to slow down Brook Lopez.
Felton and Deron will be fun to watch also.
Quote from Melo to get you pumped for tonight: “If we don’t get up for this game, then I don’t know what games we’ll get up for. It’s an inner-city game, NY vs. Brooklyn” (via @MikeAScotto)
Going to be a good one tonight!
Betting Line: Knicks by 1.0 (O/U 193.0)
My Prediction: Knicks 103, Nets 96
