Q:If KG really did say something about Melo's wife then I don't agree with you about Melo needing to have thicker skin. If KG said something about his wife then Melo should have knocked him out because his family becomes before basketball. I mean this is basketball leave families out of it. Also, Jalen Rose said on ESPN that he thinks that Melo will drop 50 points on the Boston this season. Do you agree?
My whole thing about this now is that saying “your wife taste like honey nut cheerios” is a pretty ridiculous line. If someone said that to me on a basketball court, I would probably just laugh because of how ridiculous the comment was. The way Melo reacted makes me think that his wife “tasting like honey nut cheerios” is probably a rumor that’s been floating around NBA locker rooms and at this point, Melo has just become hyper-sensitive to it.
OR, simply.. he’s doesn’t like people saying sh*t about his wife.
OR (which would make a lot of sense) - KG and LaLa have some dating history.
It’s probably a combination of everything. But in any case, Melo has to know KG has a history of saying some pretty crappy stuff (re: Tim Duncan, Villanueva).
A big part of basketball, at that level, is having mental toughness.
You have to be prepared for the opposition to say anything and everything to try and throw you off your game.
I’m not saying what KG said was right… but it was effective. He wanted to get to Melo, and he did.
As for the 50 point thing. In my New Year prediction post, I said Melo is going to drop 50 at some point this season. No better way to do it, but against Boston.
