Knicks Send Magic to Seventh Straight Loss, Melo Sets Record

Final Score: Knicks 113, Magic 97

Record: 28-15 (1st in Atlantic, 2nd in Eastern Conference)
Current Streak: Won 2

The game was uncomfortably close for three quarter, but the Knicks poured it on in the fourth to come away with a win.

Carmelo Anthony made Knicks history by scoring 20+ in his 30th consecutive game. The previous record (of 29) was held by Richie Guerin back in ‘61-‘62.

Glad to see Anthony make his way into the record books in New York. Just want to take a second to acknowledge how incredible this feat is. To be the marked man every single night and still be able to be as productive as he is… just crazy.

Post Game Knotes:

  • I absolutely love Amar’e in this bench role. It’s perfect for him. There’s absolutely no pressure on him and all he really needs to do is just score the basketball. Also, if you notice, he’s working pretty damn well with Melo now.
  • Yet again, the Knicks (mainly Felton) could not stop the opposing speedy point guard. Jameer Nelson did whatever he wanted to do out there. Nelson finished with 21 points and 9 assists.
  • JJ Redick was on fire also.. that first quarter was scary.
  • Tyson had a different attitude on offense tonight, really tried scoring the ball. 21 points tonight, nice.
  • Balanced scoring tonight from the Knicks, 6 guys in double digits.
  • Pablo, straight up knocking down shots now - 3 three-pointers tonight
  • Steve Novak finally was finding his stroke a little there at the end of the game.
  • Sharing the ball big time today… 30 assists (5 from Melo, 5 from Chandler, 9 from Ray are the notables)

Over/Under Game Results: No Winners

  • Melo 29 Points: Under (20)
  • Nelson 16 Points: Over (21)
  • Felton 6 Assists: Over (9)
  • Vucevic 10 Rebounds: Over (11)
  • Chandler 1 Block: Under (0)

Knicks finish January with a 7-6 record. Understandable with guys coming back from injury (Amar’e and Shump) and leaving with injuries (Felton, Sheed, Camby).

Knicks vs. Bucks on Friday night.

Let’s keep the wins coming.

KNOTEWORTHY KNICK OF THE GAME: I’m going to give it to Amar’e. I know Melo set the record tonight, but I feel STAT deserved it: 14 points (7/7 shooting), 4 rebounds, 1 assists, 2 blocks
